OriginOil Transforms Algae into "New Oil," Algae Fuels

Posted at 28 July 2008 18:49

I can't seem to help myself. I did the time. I was always from Bio Fuel, Bio Diesel and New Energy Information. I seem to have talked to the author in the post. This scene of algae fuels was nice and all.

Every attempt will be made to give you an overview of every aspect.

While genetic engineering has yet significantly to improve worldwide crop yields or increase the drought resistance of many feedstock plants, researchers in Colorado are getting underway with a plan to use the technology to build a better biofuel. While biofuels as we know them currently offer one the best alternatives to carbon-heavy fossil fuels, the energy it takes growing and refining them reduces their carbon-mitigating abilities. Nevertheless Copaifera langsdorfi, otherwise known as ..[more].

I has been suggested that this was a smart ruling:

1. Algae have been big all year in the Digest - usually pro-algae stories on new developments in research and production. Along with biocrude, it's been the story of the year, with jatropha coming a close third along with energy legislation and the Farm Bill. The top story of the year was, however, a cautionary tale on algae from Sandia National Labs that yields, costs, and scale up issues are still very problematic in the algae biofuels story. #2. A surprising entry into the top 10 was this ....

Even though it comes from another planet far, far away, (that's kidding) and even tough it is different, strange and a little freaky, they deserve respect and understanding just like all of articles on Internet, because it is totally amazing new idea of algae fuels.

Sapphire Energy isn't the only company developing the algae-to-oil technology. OriginOil also has its own proprietary technology to transform algae into what the company calls "new oil" that will be a direct competitor to petroleum. OriginOil uses a series or vertical stacks of a network of helix bioreactors in a self-contained algae production system. The algae are then divided into algae biomass and algae oil using an extraction subsystem. A cascading production strategy is in place to ..Read the rest of this post.

Cheers, guys!

Yes, ULSD fuels have a lower BTU value and thus when burned in a diesel engine will result in less power. Cetane enhanced products can offset this power loss. Cetane is a high energy compound that makes the fuel burn more completely in the combustion chamber, resulting in more power, reduced emissions, and improved fuel economy. Power Service diesel additives contain "+ Cetane Boost" to offset this power loss while also improving fuel economy and reducing emissions.
