Empowering California With Renewable Energy

Bio Clean Fuel Re "Fueling a Green Energy Quest," editorial, March 25: Contrary to The Times' opinion, the energy crisis of 2000-01 has refreshed, not "disrupted," California's drive for increasing renewable electricity generation.

No wars will ever be fought over renewable energy. It will remain a stable and steady source of power for as long as we need it, and can never be depleted. As fossil fuel supplies run low, renewable energy will become increasingly attractive, effective. All sustainable energy is environmentally preferable to fossil fuels, and many types have little or no impact on the environment. Although not all forms are strictly "green", products to reduce their impact on the environment.

Earth Bio Fuel The Davis administration's renewed push for green power has resulted in more megawatts from renewables in the last four years than in the previous decade. Financial incentives for power plants fueled by solar, wind, water, geothermal, "biomass" energy and others supported 4,539 megawatts in 2001, with the potential to produce 470 megawatts more from 41 new renewable power plants in the next four years.

Ecotricity When you sign up to an ecotricity tariff your money goes towards building new sources of renewable energy. The main focus is wind energy, setting up wind parks around the country. The Old Matched Energy tariff uses 100% renewable energy while the New Wind Energy tariff uses a minimum of 10% green energy but contributes a higher percentage of funding towards new wind parks. Ecotricity will also plant a tree for you.

Bio Flight Fuel Green Jb100 Through innovative auctions conducted by the Energy Commission's Renewable Energy Program, renewable energy projects can receive up to 1.5 cents per kilowatt-hour during the first five years of operation. The $240-million awards boost efforts to expand the state's use of renewable energy from 12% today to 17% by 2006--positioning California to meet the state Senate Bill 532 target of 20% by 2010.

The Western world’s energy watchdog has warned that the world will lurch from one energy crisis to another, unless governments switch from increased burning of fossil fuels to more nuclear, renewable and energy saving resources. The International Energy Agency (IEA) has forecast skyrocketing fuel prices, blackouts and supply disruptions as demand surges 50 per cent in the next 25 years. The major problem with energy is that we are running short of traditional sources of supply; basically we have plundered the planet of coal, gas and oil to drive our development.

Bio Bio Fuel Less More Waste Gov. Gray Davis' renewable agenda also includes $100 million in incentives for up to half the system cost to consumers producing their own electricity using renewable energy and over $50 million in research projects for developing advanced renewable electricity systems.

The International Energy Agency (IEA) has published a report stating the world will lurch from one energy crisis to another unless governments switch from increased burning of fossil fuels to more nuclear, renewable and energy saving sources. It forecast skyrocketing fuel prices, blackouts and supply disruptions as it pointed to a 50% surge in energy demand by 2030.
