New York Spending Millions On Clean Fueled Buses

Bio Clean Fuel New York State plans to spend $4.2 million in Clean Water/Clean Air Bond Act funds to help purchase 163 new clean fueled buses throughout the state.

ULSD was mandated by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to be sold at all retail pumps by October of 2006. This new fuel is a reduced sulfur content formula of diesel fuel. Sulfur content went from 50 parts per million (ppm) to 15 ppm in this new fuel. The reduction of sulfur is mandated to reduce sulfur dioxide emissions 2. Do new diesel engines require use of ULSD

Earth Bio Fuel The $1.75 billion Clean Water/Clean Air Bond Act was proposed by Governor Pataki and approved by voters in November 1996. It provides $230 million for clean air projects. To date, $25 million has been committed to clean fuel buses.

Yes, ULSD fuels have a lower BTU value and thus when burned in a diesel engine will result in less power. Cetane enhanced products can offset this power loss. Cetane is a high energy compound that makes the fuel burn more completely in the combustion chamber, resulting in more power, reduced emissions, and improved fuel economy. Power Service diesel additives contain "+ Cetane Boost" to offset this power loss while also improving fuel economy and reducing emissions.

New research from Halifax has shown that over 25% of homeowners have undertaken energy and fuel saving improvements to their property in the least year.

Bio Bio Fuel Less More Waste "New York State continues to play a leadership role in promoting the use of clean energy and alternative fuel vehicles," said Governor George Pataki. "This Clean Water/Clean Air Bond Act funding will help protect New Yorks environment, reduce pollution in urban areas and provide significant economic benefits for a number of upstate manufacturers."

New research has indicated that more investment in energy efficiency could help to reduce fuel poverty.

Make Bio Fuel To date, the Clean Fueled Bus program has provided almost $25 million to purchase 538 buses throughout the state. These buses are reducing the transportation sectors reliance on petroleum products by replacing the use of more than 85 million gallons of diesel fuel, while reducing nitrogen oxide emissions by more than 10,000 tons and particulate matter emissions by almost 600 tons over the lives of the buses.

On Monday, state Sen. Peter Inverso, Middlesex, Mercer, looking legislation that would put New Jersey at the lead in developing and marketing cleaner, fuel vehicles. Inverso' cell vehicles, or those that produce energy by mixing oxygen and hydrogen, or in some cases natural gas, and their only byproduct is water vapor. New Jersey could use the cleansing. The bulk of ozone pollution and air toxins in the Garden State, not surprisingly, cars, trucks and buses.

Fuel Cell Bio "The environmental and public health benefits of these buses are tremendous," said New York State Energy Research and Development Authority chair Vincent DeIorio. "But what is really encouraging, is how they help us achieve the Governor's mission of using technology to preserve the environment, while creating economic development opportunities."

Bio Conversion Fuel Recipients of the new buses will include:

Green Energy * New York City Transit, awarded almost $1.73 million for 31 hybrid-electric buses and 103 CNG buses to operate in the Bronx and Manhattan.

Bio Ethanol Fuel * Long Beach School District, awarded almost $1.2 million for 20 CNG buses, representing more than 40 percent of the school district's fleet. Lessons on the environmental benefits of the buses will be incorporated into activities at a new environmental education center and K-12 science classes.

Bio Clean Fuel * Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation, awarded $1.1 million for the purchase of four hybrid-electric buses. Roosevelt Island is a planned community on a 147 acre island east of Manhattan.

Earth Bio Fuel * Central New York Regional Transportation Authority, awarded $250,000 for five CNG buses, adding to its CNG fleet and building upon the Authority's commitment to convert its entire fleet to CNG.
