Bio Clean Fuel Regarding the Feb. 5 article, "Kicking into hydrogen gear'': I have known about the use of alternative fuels for some time now, but I learned quite a bit about the uses of fuel-cell technology and the status of their development from the article. Cars can be built to run off just about anything, but the greedy oil industry is willing to sacrifice our planet's well-being to fill its already bulging pockets.

So the engine took the route of easy oil and you now know the rest of the story. Rudolf Diesel had stated "The diesel engine can be fed with vegetable oils and would help considerably in the development of agriculture of the countries which use it" And later predicted that "The use of vegetable oils for engine fuels may seem insignificant today. But such oils may become in course of time as important as petroleum and the coal tar products of the present time."

Yes, ULSD fuels have a lower BTU value and thus when burned in a diesel engine will result in less power. Cetane enhanced products can offset this power loss. Cetane is a high energy compound that makes the fuel burn more completely in the combustion chamber, resulting in more power, reduced emissions, and improved fuel economy. Power Service diesel additives contain "+ Cetane Boost" to offset this power loss while also improving fuel economy and reducing emissions.
