Solar Panels Shining On Earth Day

Bio Clean Fuel State energy officials celebrated Earth Day on an rooftop in Edgewater overlooking the Hudson River yesterday. But it wasn't the Manhattan skyline they were admiring.

In collaboration with Chesterfield Borough Council, Barratt will equip 10% of the 283 homes it plans to erect on the former Chesterfield Cylinders factory site with solar panels. The panels will be able to heat domestic water, saving families money on energy bills and helping preserve the Earth's environment by reducing the greenhouse gas outputs of fuels such as gas and electricity. Councillor Ray Russel, leader of Chesterfield borough council, "This is a revolutionary move, for a major house builder to fit solar panels as standard on some of their new homes.

Earth Bio Fuel An organic grocery store was showing off a shimmering sea of solar panels, paid for largely with state money. The message from New Jersey regulators: There's plenty more where that came from.

Energy provided by home solar panels is the cleanest method available today. No environmental pollution is created. The US federal agencies are strongly promoting solar panel use. There is a federal energy bill that includes a tax credit for up to thirty percent of the initial cost of home solar panels. The credit caps at two thousand dollars. Several states also offer incentive plans to promote home solar panel usage.

Home solar panels systems are relatively simple. They typically consist of four main parts. They are the solar array, mounting structures, DC disconnect, and the inverter. Most people using home solar panels as their primary source of energy also have backup connection with their local electric company. It is possible to be using both systems at the same time. Another benefit is that in many cases your local electric company will purchase energy from you. If your home solar panels produce more energy than you are using, the electric company will buy it. It's the best of both worlds. It's almost a given that home solar panels will become the energy source of choice. The addition of home solar panels to your house could be a very wise investment.

Bio Bio Fuel Less More Waste The board is offering businesses and homeowners rebates of up to 70 percent on the cost of solar power systems as part of a drive to boost renewable energy use.

Using the sun's energy, solar powered fountains run water without the use of electricity. They're powered by a solar panel built onto the fountain that receives energy from direct sunlight. There are also solar fountains that offer panels that can be placed several feet from the fountain. This type of fountain can be placed in a shaded area as long as the panels are receiving direct sunlight.

Make Bio Fuel The BPU has mandated more than a 12-fold increase in the amount of solar-generated electricity from utilities by 2008. By 2020, Gov. James E. McGreevey wants 20 percent of New Jersey's energy to come from renewable sources. His proposal is being analyzed by former BPU President Scott Weiner and other energy experts at Rutgers University.

Yes, ULSD fuels have a lower BTU value and thus when burned in a diesel engine will result in less power. Cetane enhanced products can offset this power loss. Cetane is a high energy compound that makes the fuel burn more completely in the combustion chamber, resulting in more power, reduced emissions, and improved fuel economy. Power Service diesel additives contain "+ Cetane Boost" to offset this power loss while also improving fuel economy and reducing emissions.

The 120-kilowatt system covers 14,000 square feet -- roughly the size of three pro basketball courts -- and should supply from 5 percent to 20 percent of the store's electricity, said store manager Mark Wilkins.

Fuel Cell Bio By decreasing the store's use of conventional power over the next two decades, the energy savings also is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from power plants by some 1,650 tons -- the equivalent of taking 440 cars off the road, Wilkins said. Executives from the Texas-based food market chain said solar roofs are likely for six more stores in New Jersey.

Bio Conversion Fuel Whole Foods Market paid little or nothing for the setup. SunEdison of Washington, D.C., contracted with BP Solar, a branch of British Petroleum, for the panels. SunEdison sells the solar power to the store at a 10 percent discount from standard utility rates -- and pockets the New Jersey rebate. It also gets payments from utilities, which can credit the Edgewater installation toward their state obligations for renewable energy. SunEdison's investors also contributed, said CEO Jigar Shah.

Green Energy The BPU rebates come from a $125 million fund derived from monthly surcharges on gas and electric bills.

Bio Ethanol Fuel Solar companies are taking note. The head of the Solar Energy Industries Association recently proclaimed New Jersey the "solar capital of the nation." Two years ago, only two companies installed photovoltaic systems in the state. Today there are 90 installers, said Cassandra Kling, a consultant to the BPU.

Bio Clean Fuel "I wish we had something like this," said Steve Sloane, a green energy consultant from Long Island who came to Edgewater for a look. He said $45,000 is the maximum rebate for solar installations in New York state.

Earth Bio Fuel Schools in Howell and Bayonne have opted for solar roofs, as have about 125 New Jersey homeowners, who can sell excess electricity back to utilities. The BPU may press for laws to bar towns from hiking property taxes on homes with solar panels, a situation that has hurt solar programs in other states, officials said.

Bio Flight Fuel Green Jb100 Yesterday's event got Whole Foods shopper Joe Stanziani thinking about solar panels for his home in Jersey City. The estimated $24,000 price (before rebate) worried him less than possible wear and tear on his roof.

Bio Bio Fuel Less More Waste "Coming from Hudson County, I'm somewhat pessimistic," said Stanziani, a school psychiatrist. "But I'm all for clean energy. In this area, with all the pollution of the waterfront, it's nice to see a company interested in protecting our environment. It's a good thing."
